A multi-residential project engaging heritage fabric, adaptation and urban dwelling.
Architectural Response
Form follows the pressures of context and use.
This Melbourne project adapts a heritage church for apartment living, holding the building's civic presence and collective memory while introducing new forms of urban dwelling within and around its fabric.
New residential volumes work with the retained masonry so the church remains legible from the street, while light, access and private open space are found for each dwelling — a negotiation between conservation and density that gives the project its character.
